Due to Brexit, there have been significant changes in the way VAT and Import Duty works on ecommerce orders between the UK and EU. The Sports Edit ships all orders from our warehouse in the UK.
VAT: The Sports Edit is no longer able to charge VAT on orders for customers in the EU, so displayed prices on our EU site have been reduced to reflect this, and you will now be asked to pay VAT on your order when it passes through customs. This VAT rate will be at the prevailing rate of the EU country you live in. VAT is now payable on all orders over €22.
Customs Duty: When the trade deal between the UK and EU was announced on 24th December 2020, it was suggested that there will be no new tariff barriers. The reality is more complex. Whether duty applies depends on so called “Country of Origin” rules, so when an order is shipped from the UK to an EU country, the duty payable will depend on where the item of footwear or clothing was manufactured. You may therefore be charged for import duty for orders over EUR 150 as your order passes through customs. We estimate that duty could be up to 12% of the value of your order.
We have been advised of the following for order being placed from the EU;
EU: For orders below EUR 150 = only import VAT to pay
EU: For orders above EUR 150 = import VAT and customs duty to pay
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time of immense change in the way trade works between the UK and EU. This is a fast changing situation and we are taking the proper administrative steps as fast as we can as rules become clearer.
